Intuitive, Psychic or Tarot Reader?

Oh, do you have to use cards?"

"Can you please use cards?"

"Why don't use use cards?"

"This feels more like a chat with a friend than a reading."

If you are a Psychic, or Tarot reader or you are a person who regularly goes to psychics, intuitives or readers for advice, you've probably heard or said these things, more than once.

The fact of the matter is we all have our own preferences and it's great if we know what we like or are accustomed to in a reading, but every reader has their own unique style. Some need cards to help focus, and some are clairvoyant and rely more on messages they receive, some, like me, use either or a combination of depending on the situation and the energies present.

Being clairaudient, I do not need to rely on Tarot or Oracle cards to get the messages my clients seek. But that doesn't mean I don't sometimes call on them for assistance. This is quite normal in Psychic/Intuitive circles. Sometimes we use our cards, sometimes we don't. Further, sometimes we get a voice in our ear, a picture in front of us, in the mind's eye, a thought, a feeling, an emotion or an impulse. All of these things help us relay the messages to you, the client.

So what are the differences between a psychic reading and a tarot reading? Are they different from each other? Most importantly, which one is best for you to help find the guidance you need? As a tarot card reader and an intuitive both, I can personally admit that I find tarot cards sometimes helpful and sometimes not. The reality is that no method of reading will work for every reader or ever client. So choose what feels best to you, in that moment.

The main difference between a psychic reading and a tarot reading is the mindset and the questions being asked. Tarot is full of symbols and stories which make a tapestry of metaphors for the questions that are asked. However, tarot may not be right for everyone. For example, if you have very specific questions that you would like to ask the angels or guides, tarot may not be the best choice for your reading.

Intuitive readers, like myself can ask your questions to the guides directly and often receive a verbal answer. Sometimes we can look at a photo or an object and get all the info we need to pass along to the client. However, maybe you have a more general question

and would like an overview of the situation. This is when Tarot or Oracle cards can come in handy. They can help both you and the client get a general sense of the energies that are coming into your life and surrounding your situation.

Another difference between a regular intuitive reading and a tarot reading is that tarot cannot stand alone. It must be backed up with intuition, being able to read symbolism, natural instincts and the advice and expertise of the reader. A psychic reading can sometimes stand alone. However, it may lack the extra information that can be gained through tarot.

Tarot cards take only moments to lay out but can take some time to interpret and explain to the client. As well, having the cards laid out provides a visual stimulus that can help keep the reader's and client's mind on track. The most important thing to keep in mind however is that tarot cards are nothing more than a Tool and in the wrong hands, may provide little to no information at all. In the hands of an Intuitive, tarot or Oracle cards can provide a way for guides to communicate with a psychic or intuitive.

Another thing to keep in mind is that some readers do not connect at all with tarot, others find that it clarifies their visions and improves their ability to see details. When you are selecting between a tool-less psychic reading and a tarot reading, you should consider if you trust the reader to be honest and ethical. Trust is an essential element of any reading. If you don't feel instinctively that your reader is trustworthy then its better to wait and find a reader that you feel comfrotable with, than to go ahead with one you don't trust.

Tarot readings and psychic readings are both worth while, but trust your own intuition when selecting which one is right for you. Clients, when searching for a reader, do some research. Ask questions, look at reviews, talk to your friends and people you know who get readings. Find a reader who you feel comfortable with. I've said it before and I'll probably say it a million more times -- Always Trust your gut!
