The Emotional Freedom Technique -- TAPPING

Emotional Freedom Technique -- EFT Tapping

EFT or “Tapping” is a non-invasive form of acupuncture that acts as a healing tool that can provide wonderful results for emotional, mental and physical pain or discomfort It works by tapping on certain body parts along the meridian lines to release stored emotional energy and thus, facilitate healing. EFT can be helpful to reduce tension, promote a deeper mind-body connection, and manage symptoms of anxiety, depression or stress. It has been shown to have particularly beneficial effects on people with PTSD or who have suffered childhood abuse and neglect.

“Those who are new to EFT have trouble believing that tapping on acupuncture points can interrupt, diminish, or even destroy a craving, but it happens all the time. “

Gary Craig

Many people struggle in life with constant pain, anger, regret, addictions or deeply buried traumas. Poor health and repressed emotions can affect one’s life in quite dramatic ways. But sadly, most people are not aware that there is low cost, non-invasive therapy that you can administer yourself, once trained that can help with most of your chronic pain and mental health issues or fears.

EFT uses ‘tapping’ as an answer for many of the issues experienced by people on and it provides a solution for those who are suffering when previously they thought there was none. With the availability of EFT, there is no reason to feel trapped in sickness, chronic pain, anxiety or depression.

While EFT Tapping does require a facilitator at first, it is remarkably easy for most people to learn and to use in their daily lives with significant results. It is helpful, not just because it is simple and easy to self administer, but also because it aids the body’s own potential for self-healing.

What is it?

EFT is a universal healing tool with proven results. It can aid emotional, physical and performance related issues. Regardless of the type of healing required, EFT considers that the core issues are often as a result of unresolved emotional traumas that have manifested into physical conditions. The EFT premise is that by identifying and resolving those underlying emotional issues, enhanced peace, harmony and emotional freedom can occur thus creating a healthier physical and emotional body.

How does it work?

Using the energy meridians in the body, the same meridians used in acupuncture and acupressure, the EFT practitioner releases blockages and allows stuck energy to flow easily through the recipient’s body.

EFT works on the premise that all negative energy or emotion disrupts the body’s natural energy. All pain and disease are connected to deep negative emotions and some of these deeply rooted emotional problems will at some point, manifest themselves as physical problems. In EFT, the core issues and emotional or physical conditions must also be treated at the same time as the physical in order for balance to be restored.

The most basic of the EFT techniques help you to focus on the negativity that is causing the problem; this may be fear, anxiety or even an unresolved emotional problem. The idea is that you focus on the issue and at the same time, tap the corresponding meridian energy points on the body between 5 and 7 times. By tapping on these energy points, trapped energy and emotion can be released and then healed.

This combination of tapping the energy meridians and voicing positive affirmation works to clear the emotional block from your body's bioenergy system, thus restoring your mind and body's balance. And we all know that a healthy mind-body balance is essential for optimal health and the healing of physical disease.

You may be initially wary of these principles that EFT is based on. The electromagnetic energy that flows through the body and regulates our health is only recently becoming recognized in the West, but is widely understood in other cultures. If you are taken aback by the EFT tapping and affirmation methodology, I promise you will become more comfortable as you practise these methods and begin to see real results.
